Kilimanjaro in addition to being a World Heritage Site is part of the Seven Summits group (the highest peaks on each continent).
Overnight stays will be in tented camps for 6 days of pure outdoors.
During the trek along the Machame Route to the summit of Kilimanjaro we will admire:

Arusha arrival
Arrive at the airport, meet our staff and transfer to hotel in Arusha. Overnight stay in Arusha Planet Lodge (or similar).

Kilimanjaro Park – Machame Camp

Duration of trek: 6/7 h
After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate, inside Kilimanjaro National Park (about 50 min), passing through Machame village on the lower slopes of the mountain.
Once in the Park, start trekking on an easy path through the rainforest, in a wet environment rich in ferns and mosses. Then continue along a ridge, eventually reaching Machame Camp final destination.
Accommodation in tented camp, dinner and overnight stay.

Machame Camp – Shira Camp

Duration of trek: 6/7 h
After breakfast, you leave the lush rainforest vegetation behind and continue on a trail up a rocky ridge covered with heather plants, then continue eastward into a narrow and distinctive gorge.
Arrival at Shira Camp 2, accommodation in tents, dinner and overnight.

Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau, proceed eastward up a ridge, at the foot of Kibo, one of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones, and then veer southeast toward Lava Tower, also known as Shark’s Tooth, a striking 100-meter-high rock formation formed as a result of Kilimanjaro’s past volcanic activity. After a picnic lunch, descend in altitude to Barranco Camp (3,980 m. – about 2 hours), a necessary stop for good acclimatization.

Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, departure from Barranco Camp: after continuing along a steep ridge, the first challenge of the day is the Barranco Wall, an imposing cliff face: you will proceed on a steep trail, challenging but without technical difficulties. Once at the top, you will skirt the Heim Glacier and then enter the Karanga Valley, until you reach Barafu Camp (4,640 m.), with breathtaking views of the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Elevation gain: +1,250 / -2,815m
Development: 15 km
Duration of trek: 14 h
Awakening at 11:30 pm, breakfast and departure to the summit by the light of our headlamps. Proceeding in a northwesterly direction we ascend through steep scree to Stella Point (5,739m). Here we will encounter the first snowfields that in about 2 hours of walking will lead us to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m.), the highest point on the African continent.
Return to Barafu camp (about 3 h), for a short break before continuing our descent through the moors to Millennium Camp (3,754 m.) and into the forest to Mweka Camp (3,083 m.).

Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha
Elevation gain: -1,430 m
Development: 10 km
Duration of trek: 3 h
After breakfast, descent to the gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. Here certificates will be collected for the feat just completed: those who reached Stella Point (5,739 m) will get the green certificate and those who reached Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) will receive the gold certificate.
Transfer by private vehicle to Arusha, arrival and accommodation in lodge.
Dinner and overnight stay.
