Monte Rosa 7x4K: a challenge among giants

If you are a mountain lover with previous mountaineering experience and good physical fitness looking for a unique experience, then this tour among Monte Rosa is for you. You’ll be led by experienced IFGMA-certified guides who will ensure your safety and provide expert guidance along the way. In order we will conquer:

  • Pyramide Vincent at 4,215 meters
  • Balmenhorn at 4,167 meters
  • Schwarzhorn or Tête Noir at 4,322 meters
  • Ludwigshohe at 4,341 meters
  • Parrotspitze at 4,432 meters
  • Capanna Margherita on Signalkuppe at 4,554 meters
  • Zumsteinspitze at 4,562 meters

Of course, to climb all these Monte Rosa iconic peaks it is required previous mountaineering experience, especially in glacier progression and rocky passages. Also, because of the high physically effort required during the 3 days, an excellent fitness level is recommended.

 

Monte Rosa refuges: our accommodations

During the Monte Rosa 7x4K mountaineering tour we will stay in two comfortable and cozy mountain huts:

  • On the first night, we’ll stay at Città di Mantova Hut or Capanna Gnifetti Hut, depending on the timing of ascent.
  • On the second night, we’ll stay at Capanna Margherita on Signalkuppe.

Both the Monte Rosa huts offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and provide hearty meals to fuel you for the climb.

Ascent time: 2-3 h
Meeting point: Gressoney Staffal ticket office, for equipment check and briefing.

Ascent to Punta Indren (3,270 m) with the lifts, where we start our Monte Rosa tour. Departure on foot to the Città di Mantova Hut (3,498 m), about 1 hour walk or directly to Capanna Gnifetti Hut (3,647 m), about 2.5 hours from Punta Indren.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.

DAY

Difference in altitude: 400 m
Ascent time: 2-3 h
Meeting point: Gressoney Staffal ticket office, for equipment check and briefing.

Ascent to Punta Indren (3,270 m) with the lifts, where we start our Monte Rosa tour. Departure on foot to the Città di Mantova Hut (3,498 m), about 1 hour walk or directly to Capanna Gnifetti Hut (3,647 m), about 2.5 hours from Punta Indren.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.

DAY

Difference in altitude: 1,300 m
Ascent time: 6-8 h

Wake up, breakfast and depart from Città di Mantova or Capanna Gnifetti hut (depending on the huts avaiability).
Crampons donned, set off for the big ride. We will ascend the glacier to an elevation of 4,000 m and from there turn left until we reach the summit of the Vincent Pyramid 4,215 m. Descending we will aim for the Balmenhorn until we reach the large statue of the Christ of the Peaks at an elevation of 4,167 m. We will then continue up the steep Schwarzhorn 4,321 m to its summit. After the steep descent we will ride Ludwigshohe 4,341 m and the sharp ridge of Parrotspitze 4,432 m. Ahead of us it remains to reach the Regina Margherita Hut, built on Signalkuppe summit, at an altitude of 4,554 m.

After a good breakfast, we put on crampons and descend the steep but short slope of Signalkuppe. Upon reaching the plateau, we will head toward the seventh 4,000-meter peak, Zumstein peak at 4,563m.
From here, we will descend on the immense Lys Glacier to the cable car that will take us comfortably back to the parking lot.

DAY

Difference in altitude: 1,300 m
Ascent/descent time: 4/5 h

After a good breakfast, we put on crampons and descend the steep but short slope of Signalkuppe. Upon reaching the plateau, we will head toward the seventh 4,000-meter peak, Zumstein peak at 4,563m.
From here, we will descend on the immense Lys Glacier to the cable car that will take us comfortably back to the parking lot.

RATES

2200 € fee per person with 1 participant

The rate includes
  • the assistance of a UIAGM/IFMGA certified Mountain Guide
  • the Mountain Guide’s expenses (lifts, transfers, meals and accommodation)
  • liability insurance
  • safety gear used by the Guide (eg rope)
  • loan of personal equipment (harness, ice axe and crampons)
  • overnight stay in a refuge with half board
  • pic-nic for the day of ascension
  • tickets for lift facilities
  • booking assistance service (including assistance for refuges and lifts reservation)

The rate does not include
  • research and rescue insurance with UVGAM coverage (recommended): €5 per person for 3 days
