Our Breithorn climb Italy begins with a gentle slope leading to the snow-covered piste between Klein Matterhorn and Gobba di Rollin. We descend slightly across the Colle del Breithorn plateau, then cross the Bergschrund at 3,950 meters before the steeper section. The route follows the rightmost trail to a pass between the Western and Central Breithorn peaks at 4,081 meters.
From here, we ascend the airy ridge and reach the Western Breithorn summit, completing one of the classic Monte Rosa climbs.
The view from the top is incredible, with striking vistas of the Matterhorn (4,478 m) and the Klein Matterhorn (3,883 m), 280 metres below. A spectacular panorama unfolds all around us, with every peak in the Monte Rosa massif, as well as the Dent Blanche and the Weisshorn.
The return trip from the Breithorn climb Italy takes about two hours, following the classic route used by most rope teams. We descend easily to Colle del Breithorn, where we enjoy a short break and a snack with stunning alpine views. From there, we continue towards Plateau Rosa and catch the cable car down, completing an unforgettable Breithorn ascent experience.
