THE PROGRAM:

• Lessons will be held on easy itineraries, with a maximum difference in height of 600m, in the most beautiful places in the Alpine valleys of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta.
• The activities will take place under the supervision of certified Alpine Guides, with the supply of the necessary technical equipment (backpack with transceiver, shovel and probe).
• The aim of the course is to teach the practice of ski mountaineering (with skis or splitboards), to organize trips with more experienced friends or first excursions independently.
• The different climbing techniques will be illustrated, in order to learn inversions and traverse progression, for a safe and conscious ascent track.
• During the descent, depending on the snow conditions, the Guide will provide useful tips to refine the technique and adapt it to the different snow conditions.
• During the trips, hints will be given to evaluate the slopes in order to choose the best itinerary. The Guide will give useful tips for a fair compromise between energy saving and search for maximum safety conditions, both uphill and downhill.
• The advantages and disadvantages of the different types of snow will be evaluated, recognizing their different characteristics for the purposes of safety evaluation.
• Simulations of emergency situations may be proposed in order to understand how to use the emergency kit (transceiver, shovel and probe).
• Overnight in mountain huts, rural houses or B&B to appreciate hospitality and welcome also through the typical local cuisine!
• Possibility to tailor the course program by introducing other outdoor activities or guided tours.
