Embark on an unforgettable Lofoten ski touring adventure and experience the wild beauty of Northern Norway under the Arctic light.
Set beyond the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands offer a perfect mix of sea, mountains, and magic, especially when the Aurora Borealis dances across the sky, reflecting in the fjords.

This Norway ski touring trip takes you through a landscape shaped by centuries of fishing tradition. The old fish-drying racks in coastal villages are a living reminder of the region’s history and connection with the sea.

Despite their moderate height, between 600 and 1,200 meters, the peaks of the Lofoten Islands rise dramatically from the ocean, creating a unique setting for ski mountaineering. Every day, you’ll start your ascent at sea level and climb towards panoramic summits overlooking the Arctic fjords. There are countless itineraries for all levels, from easy tours that showcase breathtaking views to exciting descents that challenge experienced freeriders.

Our 8-day Lofoten Islands ski touring program offers a full immersion in this Arctic paradise. You’ll stay in traditional rorbuer, the historic fishermen’s huts now transformed into cozy lodges, perfectly located between the sea and the peaks. Led by certified mountain guides, you’ll explore new routes daily, adapting each adventure to the snow and weather conditions.

Norway ski touring – Lofoten islands ASCENT DAY BY DAY

Departure from Milan, Turin, Verona or another airport (according to the participants’ residence) with low cost flights to Evenes (Harstad-Narvik).
Transfer to Evenskjer with a rented car and overnight stay in a rorbuer (fishermen’s huts) where we will start our Lofoten ski touring trip.

Difference in altitude: 736 m
After breakfast, transfer to Svolvaer, where we’ll leave our luggage. After a quick snack, we’ll set off and skin up Sydalsfjellet, an easy climb to get familiar with this place and its ambiance. This will be an idyllic plaisir descent.

Difference in altitude: 900 m
Ascent of the marvellous Varden East and, if conditions allow, crossing as far as Stortind.

Difference in altitude: 1085 m
Ascent of the spectacular Geitgaljeting, the most alpine and evocative peak in the island.

Difference in altitude: 934 m
On this long touring day we’ll reach one of the most isolated islands, the Langstrandstind.

 

Difference in altitude: 755 m
We skin up Torskmannen, where wide slopes abound: here you’ll be able to give free rein to slash-‘n-burn turns.

Difference in altitude: 930 m
Transfer to Harstad and ascent to Nonstinden on Topptur area.
Transfer to Evenskjer, where we’ll spend our last night and we’ll organize our trip back.
Overnight in Hotel

Transfer to Evenes (Harstad-Narvik) for our flight back to Italy.

 

NOTE

The 6-days program can be modified according to snow conditions and weather conditions, as well as depending on the technical skills of the participants. The ski-mountaineering itineraries do not present particular technical difficulties (average daily difference between 700-1,000 m), only some short final parts may require the use of crampons or knives (rampant). It also requires a good adaptation to group life and the preparation of daily meals as it will be housed in large houses with common areas.
