THE PROGRAM:

Join our Beginners Trad Climbing Course and enter the exciting world of traditional climbing in the Italian Alps.
This trad climbing training for beginners is ideal if you already climb on sport crags and want to learn how to protect yourself on natural rock.
You will practice gear placement, anchor building, and safe progression on cracks, slabs, and overhangs of every style.

During this three-day trad climbing course, you’ll gain the confidence to tackle routes with few or no fixed protections, learning how to manage safety independently.
Our UIAGM-certified guides will teach you efficient belay setups, rope management, and movement techniques on different types of rock.
The program takes place in legendary Italian climbing areas, the Orco Valley (the “Yosemite of Piedmont”) and the Ossola Valley, with their world-famous granite walls and perfect cracks.

By the end of this Trad Climbing Course, you’ll be ready to approach classic alpine trad routes safely and with confidence, following in the footsteps of the great climbers of the Seventies.

ORTOVOX – Alpine Climbing TRAD ASCENT DAY BY DAY

We’ll cover issues related to safety and protection, and practise the proper use of friends, tricams and nuts. You will also learn the main jamming techniques required to climb cracks. Then, you will be able to try out these new techniques.

You will be able to learn more about jamming techniques and the use of quick protection. We will also teach you how to build anchors. Finally, you will be able to practise and assess what you learned during the day.

You will practice what you have learned, with a several of single-pitch climbs in the beautiful crags of the Orco or Ossola Valleys.
