Midi-Plan Traverse ASCENT DAY BY DAY

Difference in altitude: 200 m
Ascent/descent time: 7-8 hours
Meeting point: Aiguille du Midi cable car ticket office for equipment check and a short briefing with the Guide

From Chamonix, we will take the cable car to the top of the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) before beginning this wonderful traverse along the thin ridge. The going is easy enough to start with, but will become increasingly technical and exposed as we make our way up to the Rognon du Plan (3,601 m), a wall of rock that we will descend with the help of fixed ropes. From here, a steep but extremely pleasant slope leads to the base of the rocky summit of the Aiguille du Plan (3,673 m).
A few stretches of strenuous grade III climbing will take us to the narrow peak.
We will go down by the same way of ascent, this time, however, we will climb the Rognon du Plan with grade III stretches.
