Introduction to dry-tooling ASCENT DAY BY DAY

Meeting point: meeting in a suitable location for an introductory briefing. Equipment check and handing out of technical material.

A day to learn about technical materials and their proper use of rock. It will also offer the opportunity to explain preparatory exercises on easy rocky terrain for:

  • progression with crampons to seek balance and confidence in the tool
  • progression with crampons and two ice axes for resting or traction
  • progression on rock with crampons and two ice axes, leading the rope team on easy terrain and in the second place on difficult terrain

In late afternoon, transfer to B&B or hotel.

We have the opportunity to bolster the progression techniques on rock by trying the following exercises:

  • progression with crampons to seek balance and confidence in the tool on rock
  • progression with one ice axe and then with two
  • ascent on rock with crampons and two ice axes, leading the rope team on easy terrain, and in the second place on difficult terrain
  • progression on mixed terrain with ice and rock.
