THE RATE INCLUDES

Valgrisenche – Gran Paradiso Tour ASCENT DAY BY DAY

Ascent time: 4 h approx
Meeting point: Aosta town at 11:00 am, equipment check and transfer by car in Valgrisenche

Parked the car, we start walking along the dam on the road that will take us up to Usellieres (1,780 m). From here we climb to the Bezzi Hut (2,284 m), taking a farm road that becomes a trail. The vertical drop of this leg is moderate, but the distance covered is substantial (about 8-10 km).

Descent gain: 1,050 m
Ascent/descent time: 4-6 h

Departure from Bezzi Hut towards the Glairetta glacier to get to the Bassac Deré pass (3,082 m). We climb to Becca della Traversiere (3,337 m) and go down by the Goletta glacier to reach the Benevolo hut (2,285 m).

Descent gain:  740 m
Ascent/descent time: 4-6 h

From the Benevolo hut, we climb gentle slopes up to the col Nivolettaz (3,130 m). From here following a broad ridge we reach the end of the Basei Glacier. We take off the skis and go the last few meters over rocks to get to Punta Basei (3,338 m). Back on the glacier, we put on the skis and go down along the Basei Glacier
until we reach the Chivasso hut (2,600 m) where we spend the night.

Descent gain: 400 m
Ascent/descent time: 6-7 h

We leave the Chivasso hut and cover the wide slopes leading to Colle di Punta Foura (3,100 m). Removed the skins a long diagonal will bring us to the Grand Etret Glacier (2,700 m approx). Then we go back to the Vittorio Emanuele hut (2,735 m) passing by the base of the Becca di Montciair and of the Ciarforon; Once we reach an altitude of 2,913 m, a fast descent takes us to the hut.

Ascent/descent time: 6-7 h

From the hut, we go back along the moraine up to the glacier of Gran Paradiso (3,100 m). Some steep slopes alternating with gentle stretches will lead us to the “Schiena dell’asino” (3,700 m), where we find the trail that climbs from the Chabod hut. We move forward towards the col of Montcorve (3,800 m) and after a steep stretch, the slope decreases up to the last rocks. We remove the skis and follow an easy ridge for about 80 metres until we reach the top of Gran Paradiso (4,061 m), where there is a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Back to the skis we go down along the Laveciau glacier, which is cut by many crevasses, to reach the Chabod hut (2,750 m).

Descent gain: 1,540 m
Ascent/descent time: 4-5 h

From the hut, we climb towards the Sberna camp (3,400 m), which is on the East peak of Grand Neyron. We go down along the ascent route to pass by the Chabod hut; from the hut, skiing on wide slopes we arrive at the splendid larch forest that in a few turns takes us to the parking lot where the tour will come to an end.
