From Courmayeur we take the famous Skyway cable car to Punta Helbronner (3,460 m) or we can take the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m); from here, we walk along the Vallée Noire to the Salle à Manger (2,334 m), a classic Vallee Blanche stopover. Surrounded by fabulous landscapes and impressive serac zones, we put ski skins on and start climbing the Périades Glacier before the north face of the Dent du Géant, until we get to the start of the steep couloir (55°) that leads to the Bréche Puiseux (3,481 m). Using an abseiling descent we go down on the Glacier du Mont Mallet, where we can ski before the huge north face of the Grandes Jorasses. We continue until we reach the last part of the classic Vallée Blanche, which we go along up to Chamonix.
Notes
During January and February the snow conditions and are generally very good all the way and we can reach Chamonix on skis.
From early March and throughout April the snowpack is generally altered, the weather is more stable, with pleasant temperatures, ideal for the descent; depending on the snow conditions, the return to Chamonix is possible on skis up to the slopes or by lift and rack railway, arriving near the station square.
We go back in Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel, by coach or shuttle, departing from the same station.
