PROGRAM
Haṭha yoga and rock climbing can be beautifully woven together. They both focus on the inner and outer physical and mental balance. They can also be a first approach to meditation.
Our activities aim to find the correlation between the two disciplines with a natural and soft approach. The course modules are suitable for all yogis and climbers. They are offered on weekends but can be organized and implemented to be customized according to needs.
Each class is part of a path of growth and improvement. Each module is aimed at guaranteeing personal progress in progressive steps, which have as their final goal the physical and mental well-being of the participants.
Promoting mobility, flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness, the practice is designed to improve concentration and body/mind harmony.
The course can be a useful preparatory activity for the practice of mountaineering disciplines and excursions at high altitudes (scheduled group trips and private trips on the 4000 of the Alps).
As a preparatory didactic discipline for outdoor activities at high altitudes in an alpine environment, it can be integrated with mountaineering courses (basic and advanced) and the safety course on the glacier.
During the outdoor sessions of the “Yoga ‘n climbing” course, we will focus on the following aspects:
– āsana (postures)
– prāṇāyāma (breath control)
– pratyāhāra (retrieval of the senses)
– rock climbing
– safety and control of emotions
The days will be structured by favoring postural practice in the morning.
During the first lessons the main focus will be on learning the postures (āsana). In subsequent modules we will focus more on breath control practices.
After a pleasant lunch break, in which philosophical or physical/anatomical issues of the practice can be explored, the afternoon will be dedicated to climbing.
As for yoga, the progression on the crag will be marked by proceeding by degrees: initially safety notions will be provided and the basic techniques on progression will be explained.
In the advanced modules, the focus will be try to yoke body, mid and consciousness also on the rock wall.
It is recommended not to take food or drinks before postural practice. Ideally it is recommended to keep 2 hours apart before classes.
The course will take place on an itinerant plan in some of the most beautiful crags of Aosta Valley and Piedmont.
Some locations could be the following ones:
– Montestrutto, Settimo Vittone (Piedmont)
– Val Susa/Val Pellice/Valle Po (Piedmont)
– Vollein, Quart (Aosta Valley)
– Extrepieraz, Brusson (Aosta Valley)
– Epinel, Cogne (Aosta Valley)
In case of bad weather, it will be possible to carry out the modules in the indoor room or postpone the lessons to a later date.
